Wow what a week!Date: 06/11/2004 I love how my life goes from doing nothing, to doing way too much!
Last Saturday I was watching the ING CUP cricket on TV and thought I would look if they were playing a game at North Sydney Oval. As it turns out, it was the next day
Sunday morning I get up, have breakfast at a cafe and then head on over to North Sydney Oval. It was New South Wales playing Western Australia. I got there with 8 overs having been bowled to Western Australia and it was 0/24 so I thought the game wasn't going to be that interesting - boy was I wrong! There was 653 runs scored with 25 sixes and a lot of fours. Western Australia ended up with 328 and New South Wales fell just short with 325, they needed 6 off the last ball but only got a single. NSW vs WA Scorecard for the game. I even caught up with one of the guys from the Balmain football club The only downside to the day was getting a small bit sunburnt (by small bit, I mean fairly ) I will have photos from this day up soon - they are processed just not linked.
Monday was fairly boring except for the step class. We are going along and the instructor goes and has a tumble, I'm laughing away when about a minute later I go for six. According to Sara - it was really funny (thanks ). I have gone up on the step, then gone up a bit higher and come down on the step sending step and blocks flying. The instructor has come running over really worried that I'm injured, while I'm there laughing going "I'm fine, I bounce" (it didn't hurt at all)
Tuesday was the best day in a long time - it was Melbourne Cup Day (unfortunately unlike those Melbourne slackers we didn't get the day off ) I was having breakfast reading the Daily Telegraph when I found the race guide and thought it would be fun to bet on every race (it helped that there were expert tips in that section that I could go off - and did )
Race 1 - Bet on La Ein Va Rose, it came first and ended up winning $60
Race 2 - Bet on Tingirana, it came first and won another $60
Race 3 - Bet on Mutate, it came first and won $10 (also bet on Sweetness 'n Light, which didn't come in, as well as putting a quinella on those two)
Race 4 - Bet on Covet Thee, it came second and I only lost $2
Race 5 - Bet in Suite, for a change it won and I won $80
Race 6 - Bet on Johan's Toy (as it is a friends name and it was one of the horses recommended), and it didn't win so I lost $20
Race 7 (The Melbourne Cup) - Bet on Makybe Diva, which won ($80 there). Also bet on Vinnie Roe, which came second ($10). Had the quinella on them ($75) and also a trifecta of those two plus Elvstroem (which came fourth - missed by this much ). For a total $155 from the race.
At this point I was feeling invincible! 5 winners and 2 second places from 7 races
Race 8 - Bet on Landsdown House, which might still be running . A loss of $20
Race 9 - Bet on Turaga, which came third, a loss of $2
Race 10 - Bet on San Simeon, which came last and a quinella of San Simeon and Smart and Mighty, a loss of $30
I ended up winning about $300 for the day (off only $40) - best gambling day ever (and I doubt I will ever repeat again - but I'm willing to try ) My personal trainer Jasmin also made about that much by betting on Zazzman (the horse that came third in the Melbourne Cup)
Wednesday and Thursday were pretty boring (well there is some interesting stuff that happened below) - just working late where I'm managing to arse my way through TAPI programming, which wouldn't be that bad except I'm doing it with Visual Basic (which I don't think was ever designed to do this!)
Wednesday had the US election though to keep me swearing at the computer during the day (and most of the night!). For some reason I was really upset that Kerry wasn't winning (then I realise that it really doesn't effect me and I can make Bush jokes for four more years )
Thursdays excitement came from from the fact that I found out that I have 50 days worth of annual leave! I thought it was only 30 days so that came as a bit of a shock. Well at least I can go on a hell of a long holiday if I want
Friday the fun started again. Had personal training at lunchtime, went back to work. After work I went to Star City casino to watch Hale and Pace with Sara and Cheffy (damn! I have forgotten his first name!!). I saw them three years ago at Star City just after moving to Sydney and they were great so I was happy to hear that they were coming back (I actually saw a poster for them while getting lunch one day!) They were just as funny and their routine has changed too which is good (the characters might not have but their dialouge has). It was a great performance . Photos of their performance will be up soon too - they are also processed but just not linked
After Hale and Pace I thought it would be fun to go play some blackjack (thanks to the TAB for bankrolling this little venture ). I went to the big boys table and played $25 minimum a hand (I felt rich but not a rich as some that were betting about $200 a hand!), I was up $50 at one point but I ended up losing my money My luck had run out from Tuesday! At least it wasn't as bad as the time I went to Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast and lost my money in about 12 hand (I pushed two of them! It wasn't pretty)
Brings me to today - in which I did sfa (well except for some chores and cooking - it was BBQing weather ) I thought about doing some other stuff, like either going and watching some cricket around Drummoyne (the guys from Balmain Football Club play there) or do a 6 week hip-hop dancing course (I miss not having dancing class on Saturday - who would have thought that!)
And just for a change I plan to do sfa tomorrow as well Maybe not nothing, I hope to update the last of the photos (I have added the Muse concert, the recent German night and Steve Clarks Birthday party), re-do my plan for the next few months and just some other stuffing with the site.
Lord of the Rings is on TV tomorrow night - what are the chances that I can finish watching the extended version before the TV version finishes?
Finally, that heavens for cricket! Otherwise I would have nothing to watch on the weekends now. Only another 4 months until the next footy season begins
Wow this is a long one!
Later,
Steve
