WWOSSDate: 12/10/2002 Welcome to the Saturday edition of Wide World of Steve's sports, and what a line up we have for you today - cycling, gyming and rugby.
Cycling: I was up at 5:40am this morning (with only two hours sleep from going on a Stargate binge!) and heading toward Centennial Park to go riding out to Waterfall with Marika et al. I got there on time and waited ... and waited ... and got bored and started to do laps of the park (well two anyway before a screw holding my left crank in place came off). I then limped back to Marika's place to try and fix the problem (and pick on her for not showing up!) Turns out tomorrow is when the ride is (I must pay more attention next time!). Fixed the bike and rode to the gym (more about that later). Went back to Centennial Park after the gym and did 6 laps in 40 minutes (averaging about 30km/h) before the screw came loose again and I was forced to withdrawl from the activities. I limped back to Marika's place (again!) but this time I was one block short when the screw came out and the crank fell off (and a taxi ran it over - bastard!!!) I'm glad we weren't riding to Waterfall today with all the problems the bike had!! I finished off with riding to Rugby and back home. I did a total of 70km today (and would have been more if the bike hadn't been a problem!)
Gym: I couldn't be bothered doing any of the classes so I just played on the machines seeing how far I could push myself. Turns out I can now do 7 chin-ups and I can leg-press 300kgs (that about all I can load the machine up too!!). I did other stuff too but nothing I would be happy to brag about
Rugby: I went off!! I scored 6 tries and I swear if we had a video ref I would have a 7th!! (not that the opposition would cheat ) I was even dodging people today (two tries came from my magical steps). My defense needs a bit of work though as I tend to try and pick the pass, not mark the player (most of the time successful, but I got caught out twice today ) I think we ended up winning today (but could have been a draw - Andersens would be proud of the counting exhibited today )
Thats the sports wrap for now (its not even 9pm and I'm about to fall asleep! I'm getting old )
The Sunday edition:
Up at 5:40am for the second day in a row! This time we did go to Waterfall I ended up riding 105km in just over 4 hours (and the last hour nearly killed me!!)
Later,
Steve
