Chemical BrothersDate: 07/03/2002 What can I say, they rocked!!! It was a great concert and it gives a real insight into how they make their music - all keyboards and knobs by the look of it!
They incorparated other media into their concert well (that is, they had videos being projected onto screens around the stage). This left some people confused as I overheard someone afterwards complaining that they were putting art with music - well if you just wanted the music then stay at home and listen to the CD idiot!!!! Without the art aspect it would be rather boring as it would just be two guys on stage playing with stuff (admittedly I could watch that but that was more from a geek aspect as I can also watch two LED's blinking for hours)
The crowd was pretty well behaved, except for all the freaks that happened to crowd around me!! I had one person near me who insisted on screaming at the top of her lungs at any chance she could. There was also the girl who couldn't dance and constantly kept elbowing me in the ribs (this lasted for two songs before I retaliated after that it was good). There was one incident where someone got past security and onto the stage but the guy did nothing so it was OK.
They played songs off all their albums - from block rockin beats, through hey girl, hey boy and out of control, to come with us and the test. Plus I think there were some others that I hadn't heard before!
The opening act was a DJ (I have since forgotten the name of him!) but he did a great warm-up set that I was bopping away too.
Anyways, I have to be up again soon to play golf against my boss (7-1 my way at the moment )
Later, Steve
